What is a salve?
What is a salve?
Salves are traditionally made using a fat (olive oil, jojoba extract, grapeseed oil, etc) and adding melted beeswax to thicken. The carrier fat can be infused with plants and herbs in order to extract their healing and medicinal properties before straining and adding the wax. A salve is softer than a balm and harder than a serum so they absorb deeply and easily into the skin. Each of our salves are made with different medicinal herbs offering different types of skin and body support. Do you have a skin concern, or just want to maintain that healthy glow? We’ve got a salve for that!
About our herbs
About our herbs
Each plant that goes into the products we make at Infusion Herb Co is grown from seed on our our organic farm in Scarborough, Maine.
We tend the soil and plants using biodynamic practices in harmony with nature. Harvested by hand at specific times when the plant is at its peak, in order to capture the best and highest nutritional value.
We dry immediately after harvest to preserve quality and maximize potency.
The result is something you can see, taste, smell and feel. Something you can't get from a conventional big box company.
Topical Therapy
Topical Therapy
As our largest organ, the skin has the ability to absorb nutrients while simultaneously shedding unwanted toxins.
Topical salves and serums infused with medicinal plants are a traditional and highly effective method of topical herbal therapy, giving your body the support it needs to heal itself and do its job.
Jojoba Love
Jojoba Love
Pronounced ho-HO-ba, it is actually not an oil at all despite what many company's labels will tell you. It is the shelf-stable, golden liquid extract of the jojoba seed. It's technically a wax!
We use the extract in our topical skincare as the base, or "carrier liquid" for our wonderful healing herbs, however, the extract itself contains so many beneficial properties that we think you should know about them!
Jojoba extract mimics our natural sebum making it super compatible with all skin types, allowing it to absorb seamlessly without a trace of greasy residue! It's also hypoallergenic, noncomedogenic, antioxidant, antibacterial, moisturizing, may help speed wound healing, can control sebum production and oh yes, it promotes collagen growth! 🤯
We get our organic jojoba extract from a Maine based company; The Jojoba Company: a truly remarkable business, prioritizing quality over quantity. Learn even more about Jojoba in the learning center on their site.
